KidsCast Podcast Planner

Here are some elements that we think make up a great School KidsCast! Each one helps bring your KidsCast to life, making it fun, clear, and exciting for your listeners.

Introduction

This is where we introduce ourselves and welcome our listeners to our new KidsCast episode!

You could say something like this:

EXAMPLE: “Hi there everyone! Welcome to the very first episode of KidsCast!

We’re so excited to tell you all about the cool and awesome stuff happening here at our school. Get ready for some news, stories, and surprises — let’s go!”

(Introduce yourself starting with your name and class)

For Example: “Hi my name is Chloe and I’m from 5N, Hi my name is Max and I’m from 5T” etc

Things to Remember

You could call this ‘Heads UP!’, ‘School Scoop! or ‘News You Cant Snooze!’

In this segment you can mention some of the important dates that are happening around the school in the coming week/fortnight.

EXAMPLE: “Alright, let’s kick things off with some important stuff you definitely don’t want to miss!

The Grade 4s are heading off on their big Lego Land adventure this Thursday, the 11th of May — how cool is that?

And a quick heads up: the whole school will be closed on Monday, the 18th of May. Enjoy that extra day off!”

Around the School

You could call this ‘The Learning Lowdown’, ‘Classroom Chronicles’ or ‘What’s up Classrooms’

Now it’s time to hear from some of our awesome classmates about what’s happening in their classrooms!

EXAMPLE: “This week, we’ve got Sam, Charlie, and Annie — the SVC reps for Grade 5 — ready to share the cool stuff they’ve been learning. Plus, we’ll be chatting with our school captains to hear what they’ve got planned for us.

And stick around because we’re also catching up with the sport captains to find out what’s going on in the world of sports here at school!”

Teacher Spotlight

You could call this ‘Behind the Desk’, ‘Teachers Tell All’

In this segment, we shine a spotlight on one of the amazing teachers here at our school. We’ll ask some fun questions to get to know them better and discover cool facts you might not know about your teachers!

The teacher interview could go something like this:

EXAMPLE: “Welcome Miss Toscano and thanks for coming on our KidsCast.

How long have you been a teacher?

What's your favourite place to go on holiday?

Have you read any great books recently?

Do you have any pets?

Do you follow a footy/basketball/soccer team?

What do you like to do on the weekends?

When you were in school what was your favourite subject?”

Outro

This is where we wrap up our time with the listener.

Some students like to end with a joke which is always good as it gives the listener a little laugh to end on!

You could say something like:

EXAMPLE: “And that’s a wrap for this week’s episode of KidsCast!

Be sure to tune in next time when we’ll be chatting with our Sports Teacher, Mr. Smith — you won’t want to miss it! Thanks so much for listening, everyone.

And before we go, here’s a little joke to send you off with a smile:

Why did the student eat his homework?

Because the teacher said it was a piece of cake!

Catch you next time!”
